News from UNOPS Albania
The EU4Property Rights Project, funded by the European Union and implemented by UNOPS, supports the improvement of land and property management systems in Albania. The project includes activities related to the digitisation of cadastral maps and the development of tools such as the Land Parcel Identification System (LPIS), aiming to improve access to information for citizens and support agricultural administration.
In January, a two-day workshop on LPIS was held at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The workshop brought together representatives from the Agency for Agricultural and Rural Development, the State Authority for Geospatial Information (ASIG), and regional extension agencies from Lushnje, Korçë, and Berat. Discussions focused on the use of LPIS and relevant practices from EU countries, with the aim of supporting its implementation in Albania.
Also in February, UNOPS in collaboration with the State Cadastre Agency and the EU Delegation in Albania, organised an initial workshop with representatives from Local Cadastre Directorates. The workshop focused on preparations for converting cadastral maps from paper to digital format. Participants discussed coordination and next steps related to the digitisation of approximately 33,000 cadastral maps across the country.
