About the event
Sounds of Unity is a special performance organized on United Nations Day as part of the International Cultural Weeks in Albania, celebrating the unifying power of music. Supported by the Ministry of Economy, Culture, and Innovation (MECI), the event will take place in the iconic Pyramid of Tirana, in the main hall, from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM on October 24, 2024.
The concert will begin with the AJS Quartet, directed by Gent Rushi, presenting a harmonious blend of Jazz and Ethno Jazz to create a warm atmosphere. Following this, the Tirana Choir will perform, joined by the "Joy of Singing" choir, which includes individuals with visual impairments, as well as the Children's Choir, reflecting the inclusive spirit of the event.
The program will feature a variety of musical styles, ranging from Jazz, Pop, and Pop Classic to Gospel and traditional Albanian urban music. The repertoire includes works by renowned artists such as Paul Mauriat, Michael Jackson, Louis Armstrong, Jimmie Davis, Coldplay, Vangelis, and Il Volo, as well as prominent Albanian composers like Pjetër Gaçi, Avni Mula, Tish Daija, and Aulon Naçi.
This performance will showcase a group of both emerging and established artists, who will take the stage in solo, trio, and choral formations. All performances will be live, accompanied by a musical band. In alignment with the inclusive vision of the United Nations, the concert integrates artists with diverse abilities, promoting their contributions to society through music. Additionally, the participation of young people and children will infuse the concert with energy and vibrancy, underscoring the importance of artistic education for future generations.
Vocal education is one of the most widespread forms of universal music education, engaging participants of all ages and professions in the musical experience. The concert is directed by conductor Suzana Turku, with direction by Militiadh Kutali, set design by Beqo Nanaj, and orchestrations by Jusiald Xhani.
This activity fully aligns with the cultural education policies of MECI and the United Nations, emphasizing the importance of cultural education in promoting inclusivity, innovation, and community spirit.
