A training for the transport of infectious substances for influenza and other respiratory virus laboratories was successfully organized from May 28-30, 2024, in Tirana. Developed in partnership with WHO, ICAO, and IATA, the training aimed to strengthen the capacities of laboratory personnel in Southeast Europe for the safe, timely, and efficient transport of infectious substances. Participants were trained on international regulations, categorization and identification of infectious substances, packaging, marking, labeling, documentation, and other essential topics to ensure safety in their work.

Participants were tested and licensed to ship/transport infectious samples according to strict international regulations, ensuring that infectious substances and other biological materials are transported safely, timely, and efficiently.
