From October 9 to 11, WHO, in partnership with the IPA CARE Project and local authorities, conducted a mission to strengthen Albania’s emergency medical response capacity. This mission, part of the IPACARE regional project, included workshops and meetings with key stakeholders, focusing on the formation, roles, and certification processes of Emergency Medical Teams (EMTs).
The mission assessed the equipment and human resources needed for EMT operations and worked to foster cross-sectoral collaboration between public actors and NGOs. The findings, presented to the Ministry of Health and WHO Albania, confirmed broad support for the creation of an EMT in Albania, with all parties committed to contributing to its development.
