ILO - The ILO launches an innovative training programme on competitiveness and responsibility for the textiles, clothing, leather and footwear sector in Albania

The International Labour Organisation, within the Framework of the Business Partnerships and Solutions for SDGs Project, funded by the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) is piloting for the first time in Albania the Sustaining Competitive and Responsible Enterprises (SCORE) training programme in the textiles, clothing, leather and footwear sector. The SCORE programme supports the vision of the Sustainable Development Goals for a better, more inclusive world. Aligning with Goal 5, 8, 9, and 12, SCORE Training helps small and medium enterprises (SMEs) improve working conditions and processes, particularly by mainstreaming gender, promoting decent work, achieving cleaner and more sustainable production patterns, and enabling SMEs to participate in global supply chains.

In July, the ILO organized the SCORE Training of Trainers (TOT) to capacitate a total of twelve local industrial engineers, business consultants, quality management, Occupational Safety, and Health or Human Resources specialists with the goal of becoming ILO-certified trainers and delivering the SCORE training programme to enterprises in the textiles, clothing, leather and footwear sector. This Training of Trainers has been followed with Baseline Assessments for several targeted textiles, clothing, leather, and footwear SMEs (Textile and Footwear manufacturing). Based on the findings of the Baseline Assessments, three days of classroom Training for enterprise and a series of onsite counselling visits will be performed by the new SCORE Certified Trainers team in Albania.
