The Government of Albania and United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework 2022-2026 guided the United Nations support in Albania in 2022-2026.
Dear partners, colleagues and friends,
Welcome to the 32nd edition of our Delivering for Development newsletter bringing the latest updates from across the UN System in Albania over the last quarter.
This issue provides an overview of our ongoing work towards #SustainableDevelopment, set against the backdrop of concurrent events like the UN General Assembly (UNGA). In an interview for Albanian Daily News earlier this month (refer to the 'What's New' section), I outlined the anticipated developments in New York this September, particularly in relation to SDGs.
Following up on the highlights from the UNGA, a significant milestone was the endorsement of the Political Declaration on SDGs during the SDG Summit. This declaration reaffirms our commitment to the 2030 Agenda, acknowledging progress while recognizing existing gaps and challenges. It emphasizes the collective call to action to guide our world towards 2030.
In line with this commitment, we are pleased to share a comprehensive newsletter underscoring the importance of action. It highlights collaborative efforts between the UN system in Albania, development partners, and the Albanian Government, our initiatives to address climate change and protect the environment, advance inclusive economic development, eliminate barriers, and create opportunities for marginalized communities and much more.
We wish you a pleasant read,
Fiona McCluney
Resident Coordinator
